Yeongwol County in Gangwon Province has completed the construction of the road connecting Jangneung and Cheongnyeongpo.
This project to establish a connecting road between Jangneung and Cheongnyeongpo was carried out with a total budget of 2 billion KRW, with construction starting in June 2025 and completed in December 2025.
Planned since 2023, the project began detailed design in 2024, and the construction proceeded after consultations with relevant agencies such as the Wonju Regional Construction and Management Administration and the Wonju Regional Environmental Office.
The entire project consists of four main components: ▲ Construction of a new road connecting Jangneung and Cheongnyeongpo (L=140m, including a precast concrete culvert) ▲ Improvement of the Samji intersection between the national highway and the urban planning road ▲ Maintenance and improvement of the urban planning road (L=300m) ▲ Paving of Jandari-gil village road (L=160m).
With the completion of this project, a direct tourist route between Jangneung and Cheongnyeongpo has been established, laying the foundation for developing tourism content that connects the stories of the two heritage sites. In addition, by improving the Samji intersection-where limited visibility previously posed an accident risk-left-turn waiting lanes have been secured and various safety facilities have been added, significantly enhancing traffic safety.
Furthermore, by expanding the access road to Jandari Village in Bangjeolli, the inconvenience for residents has been alleviated. As a result, the project has achieved three key outcomes simultaneously: revitalizing tourism, improving traffic safety, and enhancing convenience for local residents.
Kim Haewon, Head of the Construction Division, said, "I would like to thank the residents for their active cooperation with traffic control during the construction period. We will continue to make every effort to promote road projects that residents can truly benefit from."
