WDR Cologne Radio Orchestra to Visit Korea

On May 15, Soprano Sumi Jo will hold a concert at Bucheon Art Center (BAC) to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her debut. In March, the German WDR Cologne Radio Orchestra will visit Korea and perform with renowned German cellist Daniel M?ller-Schott and Kim Seohyun, a next-generation Korean violinist who is receiving much attention.
Bucheon Art Center announced its performance schedule for the first half of 2026 on January 8.
The Sumi Jo concert will be part of the center’s third anniversary festival. To mark its third anniversary in mid-May, Bucheon Art Center plans to host a large-scale festival both inside and outside the venue. In addition to Sumi Jo’s concert, a duo recital featuring violinist Clara Jumi Kang and pianist Kim Sunwook will take place in the Concert Hall on May 21. From May 15 to 22, lobby concerts will be held throughout the center, and on May 23, a park concert open to all citizens will be held on the lawn plaza in front of Bucheon Art Center.
The WDR Cologne Radio Orchestra will perform on March 8. As an orchestra affiliated with German public broadcaster WDR, the Cologne Radio Orchestra is renowned for its authentic German sound, sophisticated ensemble, and profound interpretations. The performance will be conducted by Andris Poga, an emerging conductor from Latvia, a country known for its strong tradition in conducting.
The center’s pride, the pipe organ concert, is scheduled for April 5. Cameron Carpenter, a leading American organist, will give a solo recital.
In the 304-seat Small Hall at Bucheon Art Center, pianist Park Sangwook will host a brunch concert series in February, April, and June. Park Sangwook is currently active as a member of the piano duo Shinpark Duo.
On Fridays at 8 p.m., the BAC Jazz Series will offer a variety of performances by Korea’s top jazz pianists. Four jazz pianists-Im Mijeong, Ko Heean, Lee Jiyoung, and Jeon Yongjun-will perform under the title "The Pianist" on March 6, and a solo recital by Heo Daewook will be held on June 5.
Bucheon Art Center announced that starting January 13, tickets will be available for the WDR Cologne Radio Orchestra, the brunch concert with pianist Park Sangwook, and the first BAC Jazz Series performance, "The Pianist," with various discounts offered.
