At the joint debate held at JTBC in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of January 8, Assemblyman Park Jung, who was given the first opportunity for an opening statement, emphasized his experience working with President Lee Jaemyung in Gyeonggi Province and said, "I will firmly support the Lee Jaemyung administration through legislation and the budget, and lead the party to victory in the local elections."

Assemblywoman Baek Hyeryun also stated, "I will quickly resolve the party's crisis and restore public trust so that we can concentrate all our efforts on the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration," adding, "By the Lunar New Year holiday, I will ensure the passage of the second special prosecutor bill to put an end to the rebellion and complete judicial reform."

Assemblyman Jin Seongjun said, "I will raise the party’s ethical standards and moral awareness to meet the expectations of the public and provide strong support for President Lee’s administration," and added, "I will resolve the party’s crisis to prepare for the local elections and swiftly complete the legislation to clear up the rebellion."

Assemblyman Han Byungdo, who served as the head of strategic planning in the last general election, highlighted his experience in the presidential office, stressing that he can quickly coordinate with the Lee Jaemyung administration. He said, "I am confident that I know how to provide legislative support for the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration and secure victory in the local elections."

This Democratic Party of Korea floor leader by-election is being held to fill the vacancy left by former floor leader Kim Byungki, who resigned amid allegations of nomination fund irregularities. The new floor leader's term will last until May, for about four months.
