Gwangju City Completes Startup Support Triangle Belt... Launches Full-Cycle Startup Ecosystem

Connecting STAG, Growth Support Center, and Startup Hub
Comprehensive Support Planned from Preliminary Startups to Proof-of-Concept

Gwangju Metropolitan City is launching a startup support system that covers every stage, from preliminary entrepreneurship to proof-of-concept and prototype production. The city plans to establish a "Startup Support Triangle Belt" that connects key startup infrastructure facilities into a single network, aiming to increase the success rate of startups and strengthen the local economic structure.

On January 8, Gwangju City announced its plans to complete the Startup Growth Support Center within the Bonchon Industrial Complex in February, and the Startup Complex Hub Center within the Gwangju Station Startup Valley in March. With the STAG (Bitgoeul Startup Station), which opened in March last year, serving as the central hub, these three facilities will complete the startup infrastructure triangle belt.

The STAG serves as a key incubator for discovering and nurturing preliminary and early-stage startups, supporting the validation of technology startup ideas and initial commercialization. Last year, it supported 37 preliminary and early-stage startups with investment attraction, collaboration with large and mid-sized companies, and overseas expansion, and it currently houses 31 specialized support organizations.

The Startup Growth Support Center will serve as a growth hub for early-stage manufacturing-based startups, offering 80 tenant spaces. It supports stable growth through prototype development for manufacturing startups and matching and collaboration with master companies.

The Startup Complex Hub Center is dedicated to technology advancement and proof-of-concept, with over 30 companies residing there to conduct technology validation, attract investment, and collaborate with other companies all in one place.

Gwangju City plans to organically connect these hubs to strengthen technology validation and verification, supporting the growth of startups before they enter the market.

Mayor Kang Gijeong stated, "Startups are the key driving force that determines the future competitiveness of a city," adding, "We will establish a structure where startups lead to tangible results and jobs, laying the foundation for a prosperous Gwangju."
