Woo Hitae, the governor of Wanju County, visited Bongdong-eup and presented a blueprint for regional development centered on the creation of a hydrogen-specialized national industrial complex and the revitalization of the Mangyeong River waterfront space, engaging in communication with local residents.
According to Wanju County on January 8, Governor Woo attended a New Year’s visit event held at the Bongdong-eup Administrative Welfare Center, where he met with heads of local institutions, social organizations, and resident representatives to explain the direction of the 8th term civilian government administration and discuss major issues.
Governor Woo particularly emphasized that Bongdong-eup is emerging as a key hub driving Korea's hydrogen economy. The county plans to transform Bongdong-eup into an advanced industrial city where future industries and high-quality residential environments coexist in harmony, through the establishment of a hydrogen-specialized national industrial complex and a culture-leading industrial complex.
The discussions on this day focused on revitalizing Sangjanggi Park and improving the Mangyeong River embankment road. To address the parking shortage at Sangjanggi Park, which has seen a sharp increase in visitors, the county will promote the construction of a public parking lot to enhance accessibility to local businesses and cultural events.
In addition, in connection with the key pledge, the "Miracle of Mangyeong River Project," the county plans to create a stay-type waterfront space that both residents and visitors can enjoy by establishing an embankment road park, a riverside Ssireum park, and nighttime landscape facilities along the embankment section from Bongdonggyo Bridge to Apdaesan Tunnel.
Governor Woo Hitae stated, "Bongdong-eup is a strategic hub that holds both the future engine of the hydrogen industry and the natural asset of the Mangyeong River," adding, "We will expand daily life infrastructure that residents can truly feel, creating a Bongdong where industrial growth and improved quality of life coexist."
