Applications Accepted at Agricultural Technology Center and Other Locations Until February 13
On January 8, Jangsu County in Jeonbuk announced that it is accepting applications for registration in the "2026 Crop-Specific Farmers' Research Associations," an initiative aimed at strengthening the region's agricultural competitiveness through autonomous learning and technology sharing among farmers.
According to Jangsu County, the application period runs until February 13. Any research association comprised of 20 or more farmers cultivating the same crop and residing in Jangsu County is eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted at the Rural Support Division of the County Agricultural Technology Center or at the Agricultural Counseling Offices in each town and township.
The crop-specific farmers' research associations are autonomous groups formed by farmers, with the goal of expanding the distribution of customized technologies for each crop and facilitating the exchange of farming information among members. Last year, 41 research associations covering 18 crops, including apples and tomatoes, registered a total of 1,395 members and conducted 23 technical and on-site training sessions, demonstrating active engagement.
Once registered as a research association, members become eligible for support covering all necessary expenses for educational activities, including theoretical and practical training to improve crop cultivation techniques and field visits to exemplary farms.
The county expects that this initiative will enable farmers to acquire practical skills that can be immediately applied in the field, strengthen networks among farming households, and enhance their ability to solve common problems collaboratively.
Choi Hunsik, Governor of Jangsu County, stated, "The crop-specific farmers' research associations are a core element of field-oriented agricultural policy, where farmers learn and grow on their own. I hope that the technology and experience accumulated through these association activities will lead to enhanced agricultural competitiveness and play a significant role in the sustainable development of agriculture in Jangsu County."
