Chevron Championship: No More Pond-Jumping Ceremony?

Memorial Park Becomes the New Host Course This Year
No Water Near the 18th Hole at the New Battleground

The venue for the Chevron Championship, the first major tournament of the LPGA Tour season, has been changed.

On January 7 (local time), the LPGA Tour announced, "This year's Chevron Championship will be held at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas." The tournament is scheduled to take place over four days, from April 23.

From 2023, the tournament was held for three years at The Club at Carlton Woods in Texas. Prior to that, until 2022, it took place at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. The event became famous for the tradition of the winner jumping into the pond near the 18th hole at Mission Hills Country Club.

Starting this year, the pond-jumping ceremony will no longer be seen. Although this tradition continued after the event moved to The Club at Carlton Woods, there is no water near the 18th hole at Memorial Park. Memorial Park Golf Course also hosts the PGA Tour Houston Open at the end of March.
