As tributes continue to pour in for the late actor Ahn Sungki, who passed away on January 5, a heartwarming story has emerged about how he cared for even the staff at the management office of the apartment where he lived, touching the hearts of many.
"Invited All Management Office Staff to a Hotel Every Year"
On January 7, a post titled "The Character of the Late Actor Ahn Sungki" spread across online communities. The author wrote, "When Ahn Sungki lived at Hannam The Hill, he would invite all the management office staff to the Hilton Hotel once a year for a meal," adding, "Ahn Sungki would dress in a suit, and his wife would wear a beautiful hanbok. He even took photos with each staff member individually."
The author continued, "I've heard stories of celebrities giving tips or gift sets, but this is the first time I've heard of someone organizing a separate event like this," and added, "I hope the late Ahn Sungki finds even more love in a better place."
Praise Continues: "Truly a National Actor"
Another post on an online community recalled, "During the early days of the Busan International Film Festival, I once met Ahn Sungki on a limousine bus from Haeundae to Gimhae Airport. While other actors traveled with their managers in luxury vans, I was impressed to see him traveling alone with just a single bag."

Ahn Sungki passed away on January 5 at the age of 74. Debuting at the age of five, he dedicated nearly 70 years to acting, appearing in over 200 films including "Yalgaejeon" and "People of Kobang Neighborhood." After being diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019, Ahn Sungki was hospitalized on December 30, 2025, after food became lodged in his airway and was unable to regain consciousness. The funeral is being held in Room 31 at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Funeral Hall, with the procession scheduled for 6 a.m. on January 9.
