SK Telecom has launched a mobile communication support initiative for low-income children in Sinan County, South Jeolla Province.
The county and SK Telecom announced on January 7 at the Sinan County Family Center that they had signed a business agreement to promote the "2026 SK Telecom Social Contribution (Mobile Communication) Project."
Under this agreement, SK Telecom will provide free mobile devices to 28 low-income children under the age of 12 who are eligible for the Dream Start program, and will cover their mobile service fees in full for 12 months.
This project aims to bridge the digital divide and enhance child safety, and is expected to provide practical assistance to children who have difficulty communicating smoothly with their guardians or who need to be reached quickly in emergency situations.
An SK Telecom representative stated, "This initiative goes beyond simple communication support and is meaningful in creating an environment where children can grow up safely and healthily. We will continue to expand our social contribution activities in collaboration with the local community."
Kim Daehwan, Head of the Women and Youth Division of Sinan County, said, "This will be a great support for children from vulnerable families who have had limited access to communication. We will further strengthen child welfare and the local community safety net through public-private cooperation."
Meanwhile, the county's Dream Start program provides customized integrated services in health, education, and welfare for children from vulnerable backgrounds, supporting their healthy growth and development.
