Climate Ministry and Wind Energy Association to Hold Public Hearing on Offshore Wind Power Special Act Enforcement Decree

With the Offshore Wind Power Special Act set to go into full effect in March, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association will jointly hold a public hearing to gather industry feedback on the enforcement decree.

The Korea Wind Energy Industry Association announced on January 8 that it will host the "Public Hearing on the Enforcement Decree of the Offshore Wind Power Special Act" at 2 p.m. on January 14 at the Art Hall Bom of the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family.

This event, co-hosted and organized by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Wind Energy Association, is intended to share the main points of the "Draft Enforcement Decree of the Special Act on the Promotion of Offshore Wind Power Deployment and Industrial Development," which has been pre-announced for legislation from December 9 of last year to January 19 of this year, and to collect on-site feedback.

Approximately 250 representatives from government ministries and the industry are expected to attend the public hearing. The government will provide an explanation of the draft enforcement decree, followed by a Q&A session focused on questions submitted in advance.

The Q&A session will last for one hour. The association plans to collect advance questions via the members-only announcements on its website and through individual mailings.

A representative from the Wind Energy Association stated, "This public hearing is an important opportunity for direct communication between the government, the industry, and stakeholders ahead of the implementation of the Offshore Wind Power Special Act," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that the enforcement decree reflects both field realities and the public interest, based on the feedback gathered."
