Hwacheon County to Subsidize 50% of Home Ownership Loan Interest... Up to 6 Million Won Annually

It is becoming much easier for Hwacheon County residents to own their own homes.

On December 17, 2025, Hwacheon County announced the launch of the "Hwacheon County Home Ownership Loan Interest Subsidy Program" and began accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

The purpose of this program is to ease the financial burden for residents who are preparing to take out loans from local financial institutions in Hwacheon for building or purchasing a home.

The local financial institutions participating in this program include NH Nonghyup County Branch, Hwacheon Nonghyup, Gandong Nonghyup, Chuncheon·Cheorwon Livestock Cooperative Hwacheon Branch, County Forestry Cooperative, Gangwon Danuri Credit Union, Dachang Saemaeul Geumgo, and Hwacheon Saemaeul Geumgo.

Selected residents can receive support for up to 50% of the interest incurred on loans up to 200 million won for building or purchasing a home, with a maximum annual subsidy of 6 million won.

Eligible applicants are residents who, as of the application date, are registered in Hwacheon and have lived there for at least 24 months.

Anyone can apply without a residency period restriction if they are building a home on land developed by the county.

Residents whose recognized household income is at or below 150% of the 2025 median income can receive support when building or purchasing a single-family home with a total floor area of 100 square meters or less, or when purchasing an apartment with an exclusive residential area of 85 square meters or less, located in Hwacheon County.

However, those who are in arrears, those eligible for the Rural Housing Improvement Project under the Rural and Fishing Villages Improvement Act, and recipients of similar programs are excluded from support.

Applications must be submitted in person to the housing department at the county civil service office, and further details can be found in the announcement on the Hwacheon County Office website.

In addition to easing the financial burden of home purchases, Hwacheon County is also working to improve the residential environment and expand infrastructure by building newlywed rental housing, public rental housing, and developing residential land.

Choi Moonsun, Governor of Hwacheon County, stated, "Through housing supply, we will not only improve the quality of life for our residents, but also create the best living environment by combining educational support and care services."
