Gyeonggi Province Finalizes 2026 Local River Maintenance Procurement Plan
49 km Across 9 Rivers... Promoting Disaster Prevention and Economic Revitalization
Driving Regional Construction Recovery and Job Creation
Gyeonggi Province announced on January 8 that it has finalized the '2026 Detailed Design, Construction, and Construction Project Management (Supervision) Service Procurement Plan' for local river maintenance and will officially launch the project this year.
This year, a total of 14 new local river maintenance projects will be commissioned, including two for detailed design, seven for construction, and five for supervision. Through river maintenance, Gyeonggi Province expects to strengthen flood response capabilities, proactively eliminate disaster risks, and revitalize the local economy by expanding public investment.
Currently, Gyeonggi Province is directly implementing a total of 45 local river maintenance projects. Of these, 20 are under construction, 17 are in the compensation stage, and eight are in the design phase. Last year, the province commissioned construction and supervision services for 17 rivers, including Gyeyangcheon in Gimpo.
The new projects to be commissioned this year were selected after a comprehensive review of compensation status and on-site conditions to enhance continuity and efficiency.
The province plans to allocate approximately 21 billion KRW this year to maintain a total of nine local rivers, covering a length of 49.05 kilometers. In particular, the province will proceed with phased commissioning, starting with sections where a compensation rate of 70% or more has been secured to ensure smooth project implementation.
In addition, the province plans to simultaneously commission five construction project management (supervision) services in line with the construction schedule to further strengthen process, quality, and safety management. However, the timing and order of commissioning may be flexibly adjusted depending on on-site conditions such as compensation progress.
Specifically, in the first half of the year, two detailed design projects (Nogokcheon in Gwangju, Hancheon in Anseong), two construction projects (Banwolcheon in Gunpo, Seohocheon in Suwon), and one supervision project are scheduled.
In the second half of the year, five construction projects (Sinhyeoncheon in Gwangju, Maesancheon in Yongin, Daebancheon in Pyeongtaek, Najinpocheon in Gimpo, Cheongnyongcheon in Anseong) and four supervision projects are planned.
As a result, including ongoing projects, Gyeonggi Province will implement local river maintenance projects totaling 206.2 billion KRW this year, an increase of 81.2 billion KRW compared to last year.
Kim Dae-soon, Second Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "To prevent delays in the future, we will promptly carry out administrative procedures such as contract reviews and consultations with relevant agencies. By ensuring the safety of local rivers, we aim to build a safer Gyeonggi Province that is resilient to the climate crisis."
