During the two-day Integrated Gangwon Pavilion tour held on January 6 and 7, Sim Wonseop, Director of the Industry Bureau of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, personally served as a docent to welcome the National Assembly delegation.

Director Sim explained the background behind the establishment of the Integrated Gangwon Pavilion and the current status of promising local companies expanding overseas, emphasizing that Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is emerging as a hub for future industries.

In particular, the tour route, which began at the KOTRA National Pavilion and continued to the Integrated Gangwon Pavilion, highlighted the status and competitiveness of Gangwon-based companies within Korea's innovation ecosystem to the international community.

On January 6, a total of nine individuals visited, including Lee Cheolkyu, Chairman of the Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs, and Startups Committee; Assembly members Jeong Dongman, Kim Woni, and Lee Eonju; Choi Minhee, Chairwoman of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee; Assembly members Choi Hyungdu and Kim Hyun; Maeng Seonggyu, Chairman of the Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Committee; and Assemblywoman Nam Insun of the Health and Welfare Committee.

On January 7, five people attended, including Lim Ija, Chairwoman of the Strategy and Finance Committee, as well as Assembly members Kwon Youngse, Park Daechul, Jeong Taeho, and Jin Sungjun. Officials from the National Assembly Secretariat and financial institutions also participated.

Through the Integrated Gangwon Pavilion tour, the National Assembly delegation visited companies in Gangwon's key strategic industries, including digital healthcare, advanced ceramics and new materials, and ICT. They also directly assessed the technological capabilities and overseas market entry strategies of three companies that received CES Innovation Awards.

Notably, this year's Integrated Gangwon Pavilion was operated as a standalone, unified exhibition hall for the first time since participating in CES. Nine institutions and nineteen promising companies from Gangwon Province participated together in one space, intensively showcasing Gangwon’s industrial capabilities. This is being recognized as a new exhibition model that goes beyond the previous decentralized approach.

Sim Wonseop, Director of the Industry Bureau, stated, "The National Assembly's continued interest and support are a great driving force for Gangwon companies to take another leap forward on the global stage. We will continue to discover companies with outstanding technological capabilities and systematically support their global market expansion based on close cooperation between institutions and businesses."

Meanwhile, at CES 2025, the province achieved its best-ever results, with the number of consultations increasing by 41% (from 375 to 527 cases) and consultation performance rising by 57% (from 17.42 million dollars to 27.34 million dollars) compared to the previous year. This year, even greater tangible results are expected through the operation of the integrated pavilion.
