Namsan Forest Trail Ranks First in Awareness

The birthplace of Admiral Yi Sun-sin is located in the Inhyeon-dong area of Jung-gu, Seoul. After Jung-gu declared its new brand as the "Birthplace of Yi Sun-sin" in April last year, the first Yi Sun-sin Festival held in October was a great success, leading to a significant rise in awareness. The survey was conducted through both online questionnaires and on-site interviews, with a total of approximately 3,740 participants.

The "Birthplace of Yi Sun-sin in Jung-gu" initiative shared second place with the free public shuttle "Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus," both recording 83% awareness. The Namsan Forest Trail topped the list at 86%, followed by senior citizen transportation subsidies at 80%.

Other initiatives included the easing of Namsan height restrictions at 77%, the health mileage program at 76%, Myeongdong Square at 67%, the Daehyeonsan Monorail and Cheonggudong Elevator at 67%, expedited support for residential redevelopment at 58%, and the Seoul Jung-gu Commercial District Development Center at 47%.

The analysis showed that residents tended to be more aware of policies closely related to their daily lives. The barrier-free, universally accessible Namsan Forest Trail ranked first, and the Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus, which anyone can use for free, achieved high recognition just four months after its launch.

Regarding the senior citizen transportation subsidy, 95% of respondents aged 60 and older said they were aware of the program. The health mileage initiative also attracted significant interest not only from seniors but also from younger residents, reflecting the recent trend in walking and running.

The Myeongdong Square and Daehyeonsan Monorail and Cheonggudong Elevator projects were highly recognized among residents of the target areas-Myeongdong, Donghwa-dong, and Cheonggudong. Meanwhile, the easing of Namsan height restrictions, expedited support for residential redevelopment, and the commercial district development center drew particular interest from residents of older neighborhoods and local business owners, who are the main beneficiaries of these policies.

The most common source of district information for residents was the Jung-gu Plaza newsletter, followed by the Jung-gu official website and social networking services (SNS).

Jung-gu stated, "Through this survey, we have once again confirmed that our residents are highly interested in policies directly connected to their daily lives. We will continue to identify and carefully implement policies that contribute to improving the lives of our community members."
