First, the delegation visiting Las Vegas will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on January 8 with digital AI infrastructure investment and development companies based in the United States and Australia. They plan to develop incentives to attract companies to Ilsan Techno Valley and other business districts, which are scheduled for full-scale sales this year.

On January 8 and 9, the delegation will attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2026), the world’s largest IT and electronics exhibition, to gain insights into the latest technological trends and to promote Goyang City’s future strategic industries and expand global cooperation.

In particular, the delegation will visit the booths of Goyang-based companies participating in CES 2026, such as Quaternion and Smart Medical Device, to check the status of their exhibitions and listen to feedback from company representatives. They will also review innovative technologies in exhibition halls such as robotics, digital health, and AI wellness home, with plans to incorporate these insights into future business support policies.

Additionally, the delegation will meet with Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley and officials from the tourism authority to exchange views on the management of large-scale international events and the direction of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry policies. The meeting will also discuss the potential for cooperation linked to Goyang City’s ongoing projects to develop cultural, exhibition, and performance infrastructure.

Meanwhile, on January 11, the Goyang City delegation will travel to Hakodate, Japan, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of their sister city relationship and further elevate the cooperative ties between the two cities.

On January 12, the delegation will visit the Hakodate Machizukuri Center, a regional revitalization hub, and the Hakodate Community Plaza G Square, a citizen exchange space, to examine urban regeneration models that could be applied in Goyang City.

On the final day, January 13, the delegation will visit Hakodate Future University to discuss cooperation in IT and future technology sectors. They will also hold a “youth roundtable” to gather opinions on future exchange projects between the two cities.

Afterwards, the delegation will exchange a commemorative plaque with Hakodate Mayor Jun Ooizumi to mark the 15th anniversary of their sister city partnership. During a luncheon meeting, they will discuss practical follow-up cooperation measures encompassing the economy, culture, and education.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “Through this visit, we aim to showcase Goyang City’s investment value on the global stage of CES and further solidify our long-standing friendship with Hakodate City. We will do our utmost to help Goyang City become a self-sustaining global city through attracting international companies and promoting active international exchanges.”
