Recognized for Sound and Efficient Fiscal Management
on the Path Toward a Debt-Free City
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has been awarded the highest grade, 'Grade A', in the 2025 (2024 fiscal year) Local Government Fiscal Analysis Assessment conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The fiscal analysis by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is a comprehensive system that analyzes and evaluates the financial status and performance of local governments nationwide based on settlement data from the previous year. By releasing the results of the analysis of local fiscal management, the system aims to ensure accountability and transparency, and it is conducted annually.
This year's fiscal analysis by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety evaluated all 243 local governments across the country in three areas-soundness, efficiency, and planning-using 14 fiscal indicators. The assessment was conducted as a relative evaluation according to the type of local government, grouped by similar population and fiscal conditions.
In this assessment, Seongnam City achieved the overall 'Grade A', marking a significant improvement from the lowest 'Grade D' it received in 2022 (2021 fiscal year).
In particular, Seongnam City received the highest grade in the soundness category, earning high marks for its stable fiscal structure and financial management capabilities.
Shin Sangjin, Mayor of Seongnam, stated, "Receiving the Grade A is the result of responsible fiscal management aimed at making Seongnam a debt-free city by 2026. We will continue to pursue balanced fiscal operations, boldly investing in essential sectors based on sound financial management."
