On Thursday, January 8, morning temperatures across inland regions nationwide are expected to drop to around minus 10 degrees Celsius, making for a cold day.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, as of 5 a.m., major regional temperatures are as follows: Seoul -6.7°C, Incheon -6.7°C, Suwon -6.4°C, Chuncheon -9.9°C, Gangneung -5.0°C, Cheongju -5.4°C, Daejeon -6.4°C, Jeonju -5.0°C, Gwangju -1.9°C, Jeju 5.1°C, Daegu -3.8°C, Busan -2.0°C, Ulsan -4.0°C, and Changwon -2.3°C. The highest daytime temperatures are forecast to range from minus 3°C to 5°C.
In Jeju Island, some areas may see rain or snow through the afternoon. In the western part of the Jeolla region, there may be less than 0.1 mm of raindrops or less than 0.1 cm of snow flurries until the morning. Expected precipitation is less than 5 mm for Ulleungdo, Dokdo, and Jeju Island. Expected snowfall is 1 to 5 cm for Ulleungdo and Dokdo, 1 to 3 cm for mountainous areas of Jeju Island, and around 1 cm for mid-mountain areas of Jeju Island.
Fine dust concentrations will be at a 'good' level nationwide due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.
Wave heights will range from 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea coastal waters, 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the West Sea coastal waters, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the South Sea coastal waters. In the offshore areas (up to about 200 km from the coastline), wave heights will be 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the East Sea and 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the West Sea and South Sea.
