As the national winter wildfire disaster crisis alert remains at the "Attention" level, Goseong County started operating its Wildfire Prevention Headquarters on January 2, 22 days earlier than last year, and will continue operations until May 15.

The county plans to deploy 223 wildfire prevention personnel (61 from the Forest Disaster Response Team and 162 township and town wildfire monitors), and reinforce its monitoring system with equipment such as one wildfire helicopter with a 3,400-liter water-carrying capacity, eight wildfire monitoring cameras, and fourteen wildfire suppression vehicles.

Additionally, starting in February, the county will designate and announce restricted mountain access areas, zones where carrying flammable materials is prohibited, and wildfire-prone areas to eliminate risks in advance. The county will also actively promote guidelines for residents, such as prohibiting the burning of rice paddies and field ridges.

A Goseong County official stated, "Since there have been no major wildfires in our county for the past five years, we will focus all administrative efforts to ensure that not a single wildfire occurs in 2026. We also ask all residents to show active interest in and participate in wildfire prevention."
