[CES 2026] Roborock Unveils World's First Robot Vacuum with Legs, 'Saros Rover'

Chinese home appliance company Roborock announced on January 7 that it has unveiled the world's first robot vacuum cleaner equipped with two-wheeled legs, the Saros Rover, at CES 2026, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition being held in Las Vegas, United States.

The Saros Rover features a proprietary structure that combines wheels and legs, allowing each component to move independently. The legs can extend, lift, and adjust their height, mimicking human movement. This enables the robot vacuum to maintain a stable horizontal position even when moving over uneven surfaces.

It can easily overcome small steps commonly found in everyday cleaning environments and is capable of dynamic maneuvers such as agile turns, sudden stops, and rapid changes in direction-movements that were difficult to achieve with conventional robot vacuums.

Equipped with intelligent software, the Saros Rover uses an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm that combines complex motion sensor data and 3D spatial recognition information to analyze its surroundings in real time. This allows for precise responses from each wheel and leg, enabling stable and natural movement.

In particular, in multi-level homes with stairs, the Saros Rover can recognize each step individually and perform cleaning and movement simultaneously. It can also navigate and clean stably on curved stairs, slopes, and thresholds, providing a smart cleaning solution tailored to various living environments.

Roborock described the Saros Rover as a model that symbolizes the company's next-generation vision for home robotics, stating that it demonstrates the potential to expand robot vacuums from simple cleaning appliances into intelligent robots that understand and autonomously navigate entire spaces.
