The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Minister Choi visited the Jincheon National Training Center on this day to encourage the athletes and exchange New Year's greetings with sports professionals.
Approximately 600 people attended the training kickoff ceremony, including national team athletes, officials from the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, member sports organizations, and representatives from provincial and municipal sports councils. Athlete Kim Woojin (archery), athlete Choi Minjeong (short track speed skating), and coach Kim Seongjin (modern pentathlon) expressed their New Year's resolutions through an 'athletes' oath', while leading sports figures from each field read the 'K-Sports Commitment to Fair and Clean Sports'.
Minister Choi stated, "With many important international competitions such as the Milano-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics taking place in 2026, I look forward to seeing our athletes deliver strong performances at upcoming international events. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to provide support so that our athletes can focus on their training." He also added, "I hope everyone will unite in creating a fair and violence-free sports environment."
