Dongducheon City Revises Relocation Incentive Criteria to Boost Population Inflow

Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province has amended the "Dongducheon City Population Increase Policy Support Ordinance" to expand population inflow and provide stable settlement support. As of January 1, 2026, the city has implemented new criteria for relocation incentives for citizens moving into Dongducheon.

This ordinance revision is a prime example of proactive governance, as it moves away from the previous system of providing benefits after a certain period and instead allows residents to experience the benefits immediately upon relocation. The system has been restructured so that new residents can receive substantial support as soon as they change their address.

According to the revised criteria, citizens who move to Dongducheon after living in another region for more than one year as of January 1, 2026, will receive a first incentive of Onnuri gift certificates worth 20,000 won immediately upon relocation. If they continue to reside in Dongducheon for more than six months, they will receive a second incentive of 30,000 won through the Dongducheon Love Card.

Park Hyungdeok, Mayor of Dongducheon, stated, "We have changed the support method so that new residents can receive benefits immediately after completing administrative procedures," adding, "We will continue to expand policies that help newcomers feel welcomed from the moment they move to Dongducheon and support their initial settlement."

Meanwhile, relocation incentives can be applied for at the local administrative welfare center corresponding to the new address after filing a relocation report. Detailed information on eligibility and procedures is available on the Dongducheon City website or at each local administrative welfare center.
