Sphere Corporation (CEO Choi Kwangsoo) announced on January 7 that it received a commendation from the Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council in recognition of its contributions to stabilizing the supply chain in the aerospace industry and strengthening the regional industrial base.
This commendation is awarded by the Seoul Metropolitan Council to companies in the Seoul metropolitan area that have simultaneously created public value and industrial ripple effects. It is significant in that the industrial cooperation model of a private company has been officially recognized by the public sector.
Recently, the government designated the aerospace industry as a future national strategic industry and has been promoting industrial development policies focusing on advancing launch vehicle technology, securing space exploration capabilities, and expanding private sector participation. In the global market, the growth of satellite, space transportation, and advanced materials sectors led by private companies is accelerating, and the industrial and economic importance of the aerospace industry continues to expand.
Amid these trends, securing supply chains for core materials and components has emerged as a key task that determines national competitiveness. For this reason, the Seoul Metropolitan Council (Chairman Choi Hojung) recognized Sphere Corporation for its contributions to the development of national strategic industries and the regional industrial ecosystem through a private sector-led supply chain cooperation model.
Sphere Corporation has established a collaborative system with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises to meet the standards required by the global aerospace industry, and has enhanced the overall industry’s response capabilities by sharing international quality standards and supply chain management experience. Through these efforts, partner companies have been able to gradually acquire the technological and quality requirements essential for entry into the aerospace and defense sectors.
In this process, the expansion of domestic production infrastructure and the growing demand for skilled professionals have had a positive impact on revitalizing the industrial ecosystem and creating jobs, particularly in the Seoul metropolitan area. Notably, at a time when global supply chain uncertainties are increasing, the company’s efforts to secure stable procurement of strategic materials through private sector cooperation were cited as a key reason for this award.
CEO Choi Kwangsoo stated, “I believe this commendation is not an individual achievement, but rather a recognition of the efforts of all domestic partner companies and members who have quietly fulfilled their roles on the ground. Going forward, we will continue to contribute to the development of Korea’s aerospace industry ecosystem through a private sector-led cooperation model that considers both public interest and industrial competitiveness.”
