On January 7, LG Energy Solution announced that it held the MOU signing ceremony at its Technology Research Institute in Daejeon, attended by CEO and President Kim Dongmyung, Executive Vice President Kim Hyungsik, Head of the ESS Battery Business Division, Executive Vice President Jeong Jaehan, Chief Quality Officer (CQO), Hwa-yeong Nam, President of Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and Jeon Junman, Director of the Renewable Energy Division.
Under this agreement, LG Energy Solution and Korea Electrical Safety Corporation have agreed to closely cooperate in various areas, including: supporting safety management policies for ESS facilities; strengthening the ability to respond to safety incidents through information sharing between organizations; fostering professional talent and facilitating technology exchange; and providing ESS safety support and technical collaboration. In addition, the two parties have agreed to jointly establish a new safety management system-covering operation, inspection, and testing standards-for new sites where LG Energy Solution's LFP batteries for ESS are applied.
LG Energy Solution is the only domestic company to have established a large-scale mass production system for LFP batteries. The company previously announced plans to produce LFP batteries at its Ochang Energy Plant in North Chungcheong Province, leading the way in building a domestic LFP battery industry ecosystem.
President Kim Dongmyung stated, "Based on this agreement, we will apply the highest level of safety standards to ESS sites using LG Energy Solution batteries, and we will do our utmost to establish a robust safety system and ecosystem for domestic LFP batteries used in ESS."
