Codeshare Partnership on Three Domestic Routes
Jin Air announced on January 7 that it will begin domestic codeshare flights with Air Busan ahead of the integration of low-cost carriers (LCCs) under Hanjin Group next year.
The codeshare agreement between the two airlines will be implemented on three domestic routes with highly complementary flight schedules: Gimpo-Busan, Jeju-Busan, and Jeju-Ulsan. This strategy aims to link Air Busan’s route competitiveness in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam region with Jin Air’s sales and operations system, allowing both companies to test the stability of integrated operations.
Jin Air will act as the marketing carrier, handling sales and marketing, while Air Busan will serve as the operating carrier, managing the flights. Passengers will be able to purchase tickets for the three Air Busan domestic routes under Jin Air’s flight code (LJ) through Jin Air’s website and mobile channels.
The two airlines have established a stable collaboration system by sharing integration standards and direction through approximately 10 months of practical cooperation.
A Jin Air representative stated, “Through this codeshare partnership, we expect to strengthen our route competitiveness and enhance both customer convenience and network efficiency, resulting in a positive synergy effect. We plan to thoroughly prepare for the integration process and lay the foundation for the successful launch of the integrated LCC.”
