10% Discount Rate, Mobile and Paper Certificates
Purchase Limit of 300,000 Won Each
Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province will issue 60 billion won worth of 'Nubijeon' Changwon Love Gift Certificates ahead of the traditional Lunar New Year holiday to boost local consumption and increase sales for small business owners.
This year’s Lunar New Year Nubijeon issuance is three times larger than last year’s 20 billion won, with 47 billion won in mobile certificates and 13 billion won in paper certificates. The discount rate is set at 10 percent, and the purchase limit per person is 300,000 won for both mobile and paper certificates.
Mobile certificates can be purchased through the Nubijeon app, Bipple ZeroPay, Kyongnam Bank mobile banking, and All One Bank (NH Bank app). To accommodate elderly users, those born before 1961 will be given priority and can purchase starting at 9 a.m. on January 19. General sales for buyers aged 14 and above will begin at 9 a.m. on January 20.
Paper certificates can be purchased at sales agencies (Kyongnam Bank, NH Bank, Saemaul Geumgo, and Shinhyup) starting at 9 a.m. on January 20, regardless of birth year. Sales of both mobile and paper certificates will automatically end once the allocated budget is exhausted.
While the government has mandated that local gift certificates in non-metropolitan areas receiving national funding must offer a discount rate of at least 9 percent, Changwon City has decided to apply a higher rate of 10 percent. As a result, citizens who purchase both mobile and paper certificates up to the maximum limit can receive a total discount benefit of 60,000 won.
Shim Dongsup, Director of the Economic and Jobs Bureau, stated, "Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, we have considered both the scale of issuance and the discount benefits to reduce citizens’ spending burden and invigorate local businesses," adding, "We will continue to expand and operate the Changwon Love Gift Certificate program in ways that citizens can truly feel."
