Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province has decided to ease the bidding requirements for the Dongtan Urban Railway (Dongtan Tram), for which the selection of a construction contractor had previously failed, and will proceed with a re-bid next month.

Hwaseong City announced on January 7 that it held a project briefing session for the construction industry at the Dongtan Branch Office on January 6, where it listened to opinions on bidding requirements and the future direction of the Dongtan Tram project.
Fifteen companies participated in the briefing, including major construction firms such as DL E&C, Taeyoung Construction, Ssangyong E&C, Doosan Engineering & Construction, and Hanshin Engineering & Construction.
The discussions at the briefing focused on key issues such as the project overview, construction costs, construction period, and bidding requirements.
The city plans to review the feedback collected from the industry at the briefing and make reasonable adjustments to the project conditions in order to enhance the effectiveness of the project’s implementation.
The city has also begun making substantial improvements to the overall bidding requirements and resetting the construction period. Hwaseong City plans to reorganize the project conditions and proceed with a new round of bidding next month.
Jung Myunggeun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "We will thoroughly review the opinions presented at the briefing and focus all administrative resources to ensure that the Dongtan Tram can quickly get back on track."
