Key Infrastructure Project to Supply Power in Riverside
Full Turnkey Execution from Design to Production and Installation
Advancing the U.S. Power Grid... Achievements Driven by Technical and Quality Competitiveness
Taihan Cable announced on January 7 that its U.S. subsidiary, T.E.USA, has secured a contract for a 230kV extra-high voltage power grid project in the United States. The project is valued at approximately 100 billion won.
This project is a key infrastructure initiative to build a new 230kV transmission line in the Riverside area of Southern California. It aims to meet the region's growing electricity demand and establish a system capable of reliably supplying power even in unexpected situations such as natural disasters or accidents.
Taihan Cable will carry out the project under a full turnkey model. A full turnkey approach involves managing the entire process-including design, production, installation, connection, testing, and commissioning-in an integrated manner. This requires advanced engineering capabilities and strong project management skills. Taihan Cable was selected as the qualified contractor after a comprehensive evaluation of its technical expertise and project experience, successfully competing against global companies.
This contract win is also seen as recognition of Taihan Cable’s proven quality and technological competitiveness, built through the successful execution of numerous projects in the United States. In fact, Taihan Cable has secured all 500kV extra-high voltage alternating current (HVAC) power grid projects in the U.S., as well as participating in challenging projects such as 320kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) grid projects and the replacement of aging power grids in major urban centers, thereby demonstrating its capabilities.
According to the cable industry, annual electricity demand in the United States, which stood at around 4,100 terawatt-hours (TWh) in 2024, is expected to exceed 5,000 TWh by 2030 due to the advancement of AI and the expansion of data centers. As a result, opportunities for new grid construction and the replacement of aging power infrastructure are expected to grow. Taihan Cable stated, "We plan to accelerate our market expansion based on our differentiated competitiveness."
