Marriage Registration and Passport Issuance Now Available After Work Hours
Lee Soonhee, Mayor of Gangbuk District in Seoul, is operating an "After-Hours Civil Service Center" for dual-income couples and office workers who find it difficult to visit the civil service center during regular weekday working hours.
The evening civil service center is open every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Civil Service and Passport Division on the first floor of Gangbuk District Office (138 Deokrung-ro, Gangbuk District). The center was established to allow residents to conveniently handle major administrative services with high demand even after work hours.
At the evening civil service center, not only district residents but anyone can obtain various civil documents such as resident registration certificates, certified copies of resident registration, certificates of personal seal impression, and family relationship certificates. In addition, services related to family registration, such as filing domestic marriage registrations, are also available.
Recently, there has been a surge in demand for passport-related administrative services, which are also available during evening hours. Residents can apply for a passport or receive an issued passport after work, allowing them to handle related tasks without taking annual leave.
In addition to the evening civil service center, the district also operates unmanned civil document issuance machines throughout the area, which can issue a total of 119 types of documents. These machines are installed not only at the district office's general situation room and each neighborhood community center, but also at major subway stations such as Suyu Station and Mia Station to improve accessibility.
