Workspace with 125 Seats Established
Specialized Facilities for Childcare and Creative Support
Seongdong District in Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) has established the Seongdong-style shared office “Seonggong Space” for entrepreneurs, small business owners, and freelancers, and will begin a pilot operation starting January 19.
On the 5th, Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong District, and officials cheer at the opening ceremony of the Seongdong-type shared office 'Seonggong Space.' Provided by Seongdong District.
“Seonggong Space” (135 Wangsimni-ro, Seongdong-gu) was created using donated facilities, with a total floor area of approximately 2,686 square meters and three above-ground floors. It features a total of 125 workspaces, as well as a variety of shared spaces such as meeting rooms, studio rooms, creator rooms, and a Kids & Work Lounge.
The most distinctive feature is its specialized facilities, which set it apart from private shared offices. In particular, the “Kids & Work Lounge” was created for women returning to work with career experience or remote workers who have young children and find it difficult to concentrate on their work. This space is designed so that children can stay safely while their parents work, providing an environment where work and childcare can be balanced.
There is also a “Creator Room” for YouTubers and single-person media creators, as well as a professional “Studio Room” for product photography, supporting creative activities across a wide range of professions.
Anyone in need of a workspace can use the facility, and a reservation and payment system has been introduced via a mobile app. Users can easily access the space by making a reservation and verifying their QR code.
“Seonggong Space” will be piloted from January 19 to 31 ahead of its official opening in February. During the pilot period, user feedback will be widely collected and actively reflected in future operations. Details such as how to apply for use will be announced separately on the Seongdong District Office website.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong District, stated, “The Seongdong-style shared office is more than just a workspace; it is a platform that supports local collaboration and growth,” adding, “We will continue to provide various forms of support to vitalize the local economy and foster a startup ecosystem.”
