On January 6, the opening day of CES 2026 (local time), Chairman Chung appeared at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) in the United States. He arrived at the LVCC West Hall in a G90 vehicle at approximately 9:36 a.m.

His tour of the booths began just before the official opening at 9:41 a.m., starting with a lap around the Doosan Group exhibition hall. For about 10 minutes, Chairman Chung viewed AI small modular reactors (SMR), fuel cells, and Doosan Bobcat heavy equipment. The Doosan Group booth is located directly in front of the Hyundai Motor Group exhibition hall.

Next, at the Hyundai Motor Group exhibition hall, he observed the logistics robot system and the 'Spot AI Keeper,' which automates assembly quality inspections. He then watched the group's robotics subsidiary Boston Dynamics' humanoid robot 'Atlas' and had a conversation with Boston Dynamics CEO Robert Playter and Aya Derbin, Head of Humanoid Applications Strategy.

Chairman Chung's tour continued with the next-generation autonomous mobility robot platform 'MobED,' which received the CES Best of Innovation Award. He also viewed the IONIQ 5 robotaxi, the electric vehicle charging system, and Hyundai WIA's parking robot, after which he spoke with Carolina Parada, Senior Director at Google DeepMind.

At 10:15 a.m., he arrived at the Qualcomm exhibition hall. In a private meeting room, he met with Akashi Palkiwala, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Qualcomm, while also viewing the exhibits. Jose Mu?oz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, who met him on site, interpreted Chairman Chung's decision to visit Qualcomm immediately after the Hyundai booth as "having very significant meaning."

This has led to expectations that Hyundai Motor Group, which has identified 'AI robotics' as a new growth engine and is focusing its efforts on developing humanoid robots, will continue its global collaboration initiatives. The previous day, Boston Dynamics had established a strategic partnership with Google DeepMind. On the same day, Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chairman Jang Jaehoon commented on securing physical AI competitiveness, saying, "Global collaboration seems to be the most important," and added, "We will soon be able to share areas where we can instill confidence in the market together with global companies."

Afterward, Chairman Chung walked to the LVCC Central Hall and visited the LG Electronics booth. Guided by Eun Seokhyun, President and Head of the VS Business Division, he moved to a separate exhibition space for vehicle solutions and participated in an experience by sitting in a mock driver's seat. For about 10 minutes, he viewed displays of in-vehicle AI technologies, including the Ultra View windshield screen, AI cockpit, displays, autonomous driving applications, driver facial sensing, and audio systems.

Finally, at the Wynn Hotel, where Samsung Electronics had set up an exclusive exhibition hall, he met with Tae-moon Roh, President and Head of the Device Experience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. Starting at 11:20 a.m., he toured the 130-inch Micro RGB TV, the AI Food Manager refrigerator, and the robot vacuum cleaner in sequence. In the Galaxy Zone, he viewed the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Book 6 series, and personally picked up and folded the Tri-Fold device.
