Trump Allows Exports to China... Approval Process Underway
Jensen Huang: "High Demand for H200 Chips in China"
The U.S. government is currently processing approval procedures for exports of NVIDIA's H200 graphics processing unit (GPU) to China, but the timing of the approval has not yet been determined.

Colette Kress, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of NVIDIA, stated at the 'CES 2026' electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, on the 6th (local time), "The U.S. government is working feverishly on the approval process," adding, "We will have to wait and see how things unfold," according to a report by Reuters.
Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, commented on the matter, "I do not expect a press release or a large official announcement," and added, "If purchase orders are accepted, that in itself will be a signal that exports are possible."
Last year, President Donald Trump reversed the previous policy restricting exports of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China and announced that exports of NVIDIA's H200 chips to China would be permitted. However, the relevant approval procedures have not yet been completed.
The H200 is the previous-generation model of NVIDIA's flagship 'Blackwell' chip and, compared to the next-generation accelerator 'Rubin' unveiled the previous day, is two generations behind.
After unveiling the latest AI accelerator, 'Vera Rubin,' in his keynote speech the previous day, CEO Huang stated that "demand for the H200 chip in China is very high."
CFO Kress emphasized to analysts that there is sufficient supply capacity for the H200 chip and that it will not affect supply to other customers.
NVIDIA has set a target of achieving total sales of 500 billion dollars (approximately 700 trillion won) by the end of this year through products such as Blackwell and Rubin.
CFO Kress also added that discussions with customers regarding data center expansion for next year are already underway.
