Dongjak District to Launch 2.73 Million m² Large-Scale Development This Year... High-End Apartments Across Noryangjin

High-Rise Shopping Mall with Han River Views and 1,900-Seat Performance Hall Planned

Dongjak District in Seoul (Mayor Park Ilha) will simultaneously promote large-scale development projects across the district and resident-focused welfare policies this year.


On the 6th, Mayor Park Ilha announced the district’s major projects for the year at the New Year's Meeting held in the main auditorium of the district office. The event was attended by more than 500 people, including local members of the National Assembly, the Mayor of Seoul, city and district council members, heads of related organizations, leaders of professional associations, and residents.

Mayor Park specifically outlined key initiatives for this year across more than 10 areas, including support for seniors, youth, jobs, education, and development projects.


In the field of welfare, the district will introduce a "New Filial Piety Series," featuring filial piety cards and filial piety restaurants, and expand the provision of affordable housing for young people. In the area of employment, the district will create public sector jobs and expand the operation of the MacGyver Center.


In terms of urban development, the district will attract a high-rise complex shopping mall with views of the Han River and develop the site of the former Noryangjin district office. High-end apartment complexes will be built throughout Noryangjin, and large-scale development projects covering 2.73 million square meters (820,000 pyeong) across Dongjak District will be fully launched.


Transportation infrastructure will also be significantly improved. The district will enhance the traffic system, including U-turns and left turns, expand the Sangdo Tunnel, and begin construction of the Isu-Gwacheon complex tunnel and the Dorimcheon deep drainage tunnel.


Cultural and sports facilities will be greatly expanded. The district will establish experiential learning spaces for English, mathematics, and science, and build a large-scale performance hall with 1,900 seats. Premium sports facilities will be established in Noryangjin, and the Banpocheon Park Golf Course will be upgraded.


Mayor Park Ilha stated, "This year, we will proactively respond to the changing times and approach district administration with an innovative mindset, creating new values. We will clearly demonstrate to our residents Dongjak’s transformation into a city that attracts attention not just in Seoul, but around the world."
