At the official residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, on the afternoon of the same day, Mayor Oh said to Assemblyman Ahn, "With the elections approaching, there is much that Seoul and Gyeonggi Province need to work on together."

Assemblyman Ahn responded, "It is extremely important to have these discussions at such a crucial time."

Kim Byungmin, Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs of Seoul, stated after the meeting, "They agreed that the People Power Party must break away from its problematic past and move forward as a competent party focused on people's livelihoods."

Deputy Mayor Kim added, "The two agreed to continue communicating together regarding party reform, broadening the party's base, and pursuing unity."

Assemblyman Ahn, whose constituency is Bundang-gap in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, is serving his fourth term, making him the most senior lawmaker within the People Power Party who represents a district in Gyeonggi Province.

Both Mayor Oh and Assemblyman Ahn have maintained a critical stance within the People Power Party regarding former President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of emergency martial law, and have expressed that the party should issue a public apology to the people.

On the first day of the new year, Mayor Oh also urged the party leadership to embrace change through a post on Facebook.
