On January 6, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had launched the Year of the Red Horse, Byeongo Year, with its citizens by holding the "2026 New Year's Meeting and New Year Concert" at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center Indoor Gymnasium.

This event was organized to reflect on the achievements of the past year based on civic unity, and to share the new year's municipal direction and future vision together. Through its first official event of the year, the city expanded communication with citizens and provided an opportunity to strengthen the bonds within the local community.
More than 700 people attended the event, including Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, members of the city council, political parties, affiliated organizations, groups, and sponsors. Mayor Joo personally greeted attendees at the entrance and welcomed them. The event consisted of a pre-ceremony performance, Part 1: New Year Opening Concert, and Part 2: Rice Cake Cutting and New Year's Greetings.
During the pre-ceremony performance, the Song Hanna Jazz Trio, composed of young artists, played background music, creating a warm atmosphere at the venue. The first part of the concert focused on youth, in line with the city's emphasis on strengthening youth policies.
The stage program began with the Namyangju City Choir and continued with Korean traditional music and Western music, blending various genres to convey the image of a young and dynamic city. The finale featured a joint performance of choir, Korean traditional music, and Western music with the piece "Beautiful Country," delivering a message of unity.

In addition, a "New Year Hope Video" featuring sister cities, citizens, and promotional ambassadors was screened, delivering a message that connected generations and regions. In the second part, the event concluded with a rice cake cutting ceremony and the sharing of New Year's greetings.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok emphasized, "Building on the foundation of change created together with citizens, we will move beyond sincerity to achieve real results," highlighting Namyangju's leap beyond imagination.
