Uiseong curling changed the course of the season with a single stone.


Uiseong County (Governor Kim Joosoo) announced that the Uiseong County Office men's curling team claimed victory in the 2025-2026 Curling Super League men's final, defeating the Gyeongbuk Sports Council 6-5 at the Uijeongbu Curling Stadium on January 1.


The match continued through the ninth end, and the outcome was determined by the very last stone.

This Super League was hosted and organized by the Korea Curling Federation and took place from November 18 of last year to January 1 of this year.


A total of 11 teams from across the country participated, engaging in fierce competition throughout the long season, and the championship team received a prize of 10 million won.


The Uiseong County Office team consisted of Skip Jeong Byeongjin, Third Kim Hyojun, Second Pyo Jeongmin, Lead Kim Jinhoon, and Coach Lee Donggeon. After finishing the preliminaries in second place with five wins and three losses, they advanced to the semifinals, where they defeated the Gangwon Provincial Office 8-1 to secure their spot in the final.


The early stages of the final were tough. Uiseong County Office fell behind, conceding four points at the start, but steadily adjusted their end strategy and began to catch up.


They regained momentum by tying the score at 5-5 in the eighth end, setting the stage for a dramatic ninth end. The last stone slipped through the guards by the narrowest of margins to achieve a takeout, delivering the decisive blow that overturned the match.


The Uiseong County Office players said, "Our improved understanding of tactics through situation-specific training was crucial at the decisive moment," adding, "We will thoroughly prepare for the 2026 Korea Curling Championships and are determined to achieve our goal of being selected for the national team."


Kim Joosoo, Governor of Uiseong County, commented, "This hard-earned victory was made possible by the players who maintained their focus until the very end and the dedicated efforts of the coaching staff. I hope this achievement will once again highlight the competitiveness of Uiseong curling nationwide."


A single decision between the guards determined the season. Uiseong curling delivered the most precise answer at the most critical moment, rising to the top.
