This program is an intensive local language course designed for second- and third-year middle school students from the region. It will be held for 20 days at a specialized language institute in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. A total of 31 students were selected in advance to participate, and they will receive intensive English instruction every day during the program.
The schedule also includes weekend visits to nearby Singapore, where students will take part in cultural and arts programs. This allows them to not only study English but also gain a variety of global cultural experiences.
Sung Hyundeok, Chairman of the Goryeong County Education Development Committee, said, "I hope this program will help students improve their English skills and broaden their perspectives by experiencing foreign cultures firsthand. I look forward to seeing them grow into global talents who will lead Goryeong County in the future."
The "2026 Goryeong County Youth Overseas Language Study Program" is the first locally intensive language training program of its kind to be implemented this year, and it has attracted significant interest from students and parents since the planning stage.
Goryeong County, led by Governor Lee Namcheol, plans to systematically nurture future global talent through this program and contribute to fostering individuals who will enhance the competitiveness of the local community.
