Applications for the contest will be accepted from January 12 to 26, and participation in a preliminary consultation is mandatory before submitting an application. The preliminary consultation can also be attended on-site on the day of application. Afterwards, the process will include a document review, on-site inspection, expert evaluation, and deliberation by the Gapyeong County Village Community Operations Committee, with the final selection results scheduled to be announced in February.
This contest project aims to restore local community spirit through resident participation and to lay the foundation for villages to solve their own problems. The project period runs until December 2026, with a total budget of 47 million won, of which 30% will be funded by the province and 70% by the county.
Eligible applicants include resident groups of five or more people (Stage 1) or ten or more people (Stages 2-3) who are registered residents of Gapyeong County, as well as local communities. Customized support will be provided according to the growth stage of each community.
Support will be provided in two areas: community activities and space creation. The community activities category covers a range of initiatives, such as local care, culture and education, environment, and improvement of living conditions, with funding ranging from 2 million to up to 4 million won per stage. The space creation category offers up to 12 million won for remodeling shared community spaces secured by residents, including costs for electrical and ventilation facilities.
To enhance the effectiveness of the project, Gapyeong County plans to offer accounting education and capacity-building workshops for communities using the "Botam-e System." Performance-sharing events to promote exchanges among communities will also be held throughout the year.
A Gapyeong County official stated, "Through this contest project, we hope residents will take the lead in solving village issues and that trust and solidarity among neighbors will be restored through community activities," adding, "We encourage active participation from interested residents and communities."
