[CES 2026] Ministry of Science and ICT Produces CES Innovation Award Winners for Two Consecutive Years

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on January 6 that a company participating in the 'Digital Public Innovation Ecosystem Development Project' has won a CES Innovation Award this year, following last year’s achievement. This marks two consecutive years that a domestic GovTech company has demonstrated international competitiveness. GovTech refers to services that innovate public infrastructure and solve regional and social issues by introducing digital technologies such as data and AI into public services, thereby promoting digital convergence for citizens.

Among the companies participating in the 2025 project, the artificial intelligence (AI) startup AI Park was selected as a CES 2026 Innovation Award winner. AI Park received the Innovation Award in the content and entertainment category for its AI avatar video production solution, 'AiVATAR.' AiVATAR is a solution that automatically produces AI video news based on press releases written in text. It is currently being utilized by public institutions such as the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Government.

Previously, in 2024, EM City, which developed the remote fire monitoring safety management solution 'BDApp,' and LBSTech, which introduced the walking information service for people with disabilities 'WheelAR,' were each selected as award winners in the smart city and human security categories, respectively. The Digital Public Innovation Ecosystem Development Project supports startups and pilot projects in the GovTech sector, providing step-by-step support from company discovery to commercialization.

In addition to winning CES Innovation Awards over the past two years, participating companies have achieved cumulative investment attraction of approximately 9 billion won and have signed domestic and international memorandums of understanding (MoUs). The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to continue the project in 2026 by strengthening support at each stage, including market entry, investment attraction, commercialization, revenue generation, and overseas expansion, based on the achievements proven through public-private collaborative pilot projects. The project announcement will be posted in January on the websites of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).

Kim Minpyo, Director of Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "The digital public innovation ecosystem is a key foundation for innovating public services through public-private cooperation," and added, "As the GovTech sector has been recognized for its international competitiveness for two consecutive years, we will actively support the private sector’s innovative capabilities to be fully realized again this year."
