Yeonggwang Public Memorial Park Begins Official Operations

Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province announced on January 6 that it has completed the two-month pilot operation of the Yeonggwang County Public Memorial Park and officially began full-scale operations on January 1.

The public memorial park entered a 70-day pilot operation period starting October 23 last year, during which a comprehensive inspection of the facilities was conducted and service systems were established, including checks to improve user convenience. In particular, a stable operational foundation was put in place to ensure that county residents can use the facility with peace of mind.

Even during the short two-month pilot period, the high level of interest and demand from residents was evident, with 24 individual niches, 14 couple niches, and 9 natural burials being used at the public memorial park.

From the official opening on January 1, the scope of eligible users has been significantly expanded, as it is now possible to enshrine and inter relocated remains.

An official from Yeonggwang County stated, "Through the pilot operation, we have thoroughly addressed any shortcomings and created an optimal environment, so we hope that the Yeonggwang County Public Memorial Park will serve as a place of peace for your loved ones and offer genuine comfort to bereaved families. We will continue to strive to provide resident-centered services in line with the evolving funeral culture."

Meanwhile, the required documents for enshrinement include a cremation certificate, (for enshrined remains) a certificate of delivery of remains, (for relocated remains) a relocation report certificate, and a family relationship certificate.
