Mayor Park Inspects Pilot Project Site
Discusses Plans for Expansion
Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province is planning to expand the 'Anyangcheon Citizen Participation Garden,' which was launched as a pilot project, to the entire stream area.
On January 6, Gwangmyeong City announced that Mayor Seungwon Park visited the pilot section of the Anyangcheon Local Garden project on the 5th to inspect its current usage and discuss this expansion plan.

The pilot section stretches about 1 kilometer from Gwangmyeong Bridge toward Cheolsan Bridge and was completed in December last year. On this day, Mayor Park toured the site, focusing on the Bright Rose Garden and the Citizen Participation Garden within the pilot section, and explored ways to spread citizen-participatory gardens throughout Anyangcheon.
The Anyangcheon Citizen Participation Garden is part of the Anyangcheon Local Garden project, aiming to create spaces where citizens can experience and enjoy nature in their daily lives while preserving the ecological and scenic value of the stream. The pilot section was designed and created directly by 113 citizens in 29 teams, who participated in training and practical sessions over approximately three months.
Based on the results of operating this pilot section, the city plans to gradually expand the citizen participation-centered garden model to the entire stretch of Anyangcheon.
Mayor Park stated, "The Citizen Participation Garden does not end with its creation; its management and utilization afterward are even more important. We will enhance the management system and programs to enable citizens to take the lead in the garden, and we will develop a citizen-participatory garden model that can be expanded throughout Anyangcheon."
