Yeongdeungpo District in Seoul (Mayor Cho Hogwon) announced that it has produced a guidebook titled "Yeongdeungpo in 2026: What Will Change," which outlines 75 major policies to be implemented this year. In the housing sector, the district will introduce a real-time management system for collecting large waste items and construct a new road connecting Sindorim Station and Mullae-dong. It will fully implement a shared temporary and designated parking system and introduce an annual lottery system for public off-street parking lots to alleviate parking shortages. A Green Forest Path will be created in the Daebangcheon street green space, and an "I-Maum" playground for children will also be established.
To boost the local economy, the district will issue "Ttaenggyeoyo Gift Certificates" worth 500 million won every month. The floor area ratio for the Yeouido Financial Special Development Promotion District will be eased, and two rest areas for mobile workers will be operated.
In the education sector, the district will expand customized basic academic skills improvement programs and after-school learning support for slow learners. A visiting observatory and Saturday science classes will be newly established, and the Yeouido Brighton Library will officially open.
In the culture & sports sector, Yeongdeungpo will establish the Yeongdeungpo Third Sports Center, the Yeouido Brighton Sports Lounge, and the Seoul Fitness 9988 Yeongdeungpo Fitness Certification Center. Reflecting the high proportion of young residents, the district will operate the "Youth O.Un.Wan Project" and "Youth Night Market," and will continue the "K-Culture Academy" in partnership with FNC.
In the welfare sector, two Seoul-style kids cafes and two district-run daycare centers will open. The "Yeongdeungpo-style Gap Childcare" program will be expanded, and the Yeongdeungpo 50 Plus Center and Yeouido Senior Welfare Center will be integrated into the "Yeouido Welfare Center." The "Just Dream" project will also be implemented to provide food and daily necessities to residents struggling to make ends meet, regardless of income level.
More details can be found in the e-book posted on the "Transparent Administration - Major Policies - Changing Yeongdeungpo" section of the Yeongdeungpo District website.
Mayor Cho Hogwon stated, "I hope residents will easily find and widely utilize the various benefits prepared by the district in their daily lives."
