On January 5, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2026 First Half New Civil Servant Orientation' for 140 newly appointed civil servants.
This training was organized prior to departmental assignments to help new civil servants understand the overall city administration and public service culture, as well as to enhance their basic competencies and adaptability as public officials. In particular, the program focused on helping rookie civil servants overcome challenges they may face early in their careers and on strengthening communication and unity among colleagues.
The main topics covered included: ▲Current status and policy direction of Changwon Special City ▲Guidance on training, service, and administrative systems ▲Introduction to employee welfare programs ▲Customized etiquette training for new civil servants to help them navigate public service life.
In the afternoon, a team-building program was conducted, allowing participants to complete various missions and naturally learn the importance of collaboration while building bonds with their peers.
One new civil servant who attended the orientation shared, "I felt a vague sense of nervousness as I began my public service career, but listening to explanations about the overall city administration and actual work was very helpful. Especially through the team-building activities, I was able to communicate naturally with my peers, and it felt meaningful to gain reliable colleagues."
Jung Soongil, Director of the Department of Autonomous Administration, stated, "Today is not just a simple orientation, but a meaningful starting point as you take your first steps as public officials in Changwon. I hope each and every one of you will take pride in being the face of Changwon Special City and continue to grow while communicating with citizens from their perspective."
Meanwhile, Changwon Special City plans to strengthen various public service competencies not only for new civil servants but also through customized programs for each stage of a public official's career, including training for those receiving promotions, position-specific education, and leadership training for managers.
