CEO Youngnam Kim Proposes Policy for Gwangju as a City that Fosters Pet Culture Youngnam Kim, CEO of The Senseo District Heating Plant

On January 5, Youngnam Kim, CEO of The Sen West Power Plant, argued that a new pet policy is needed-one that goes beyond simply protecting and managing companion animals, and instead expands to embrace culture, industry, and the value of coexistence.

Kim stated, "Pets are no longer just confined to the home-they are family and neighbors," adding, "Gwangju must now move beyond being a 'city that raises pets' to become a 'city that fosters pet culture.'"

He went on to emphasize the need for policies such as ▲pet playgrounds and pet culture festivals ▲pet experience and etiquette programs ▲grooming, care, and health management programs ▲and the development of local and organic pet food industries.

Kim pointed out, "Until now, local governments' pet policies have focused on essential protection measures such as preventing abandonment and abuse, as well as enforcement." He continued, "While protection-centered policies have certainly played an important role, it is now time to consider how we can enjoy life with pets, learn together, and connect with the local community."

Kim added, "Pets are precious family members," and, "As families grow, cities must become more attentive." "Moving beyond being a city that raises pets to becoming a city that fosters pet culture-that is the direction Gwangju must pursue going forward," he concluded.
