On January 5, Lee Cheolwoo, Governor of North Gyeongsang Province, attended the "2026 Andong Chamber of Commerce and Industry New Year's Meeting" held at the Andong International Convention Center, where he exchanged New Year's greetings with local business leaders and reaffirmed his commitment to cooperation for the advancement of the regional economy.
The event, hosted by the Andong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was attended by approximately 250 people, including Governor Lee Cheolwoo, Lim Jongshik, Superintendent of Education for North Gyeongsang Province, Kwon Gichang, Mayor of Andong, Kim Kyungdo, Chairman of the Andong City Council, provincial council members Kim Daeil, Kwon Gwangtaek, and Kim Daejin, as well as local businesspeople.

The event featured a performance promoting investment in companies at the Andong Bio-Life National Industrial Complex and a rice cake cutting ceremony wishing for the prosperity of Andong City. There was also a time for well-wishing remarks for the well-being of Andong citizens and the growth of local businesses in the new year.
In his New Year's address, Lee Daewon, President of the Andong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, "Despite the great ordeal of last year's large-scale wildfire, Andong overcame the crisis with the unity of the administration, citizens, and businesses. This was an opportunity to once again confirm the strength and community spirit of our region."
In his congratulatory remarks, Governor Lee Cheolwoo said, "The achievements of last year were possible thanks to the dedicated support of the business community and residents present here. In 2026, we will usher in a hopeful new era for North Gyeongsang Province through economic innovation in high-tech industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, next-generation mobility, as well as cultural tourism and agricultural transformation."
Going forward, North Gyeongsang Province plans to continue working closely with cities and counties in the province, as well as with chambers of commerce, to create a business-friendly environment, foster future industries, and accelerate balanced regional development.
