Over 300 Residents and Tourists Gather
A Warm Start to the New Year with Shared Rice Cake Soup
The Saemaul Three Organizations (Saemaul Leaders’ Council, Women’s Association, and Library Association) of Gaknam-myeon, Cheongdo County, North Gyeongsang Province, announced that they successfully held the “2026 Byeongo Year Sunrise Event” at the Bamti-jae Rest Area in the early morning of January 1.
This event was organized to celebrate the hopeful New Year, pray for the health and well-being of the residents, and provide a venue for communication and unity.
On site, more than 300 residents and tourists gathered to watch the first sunrise of the year and make New Year’s wishes.
The Saemaul Three Organizations, which hosted the event, served warm rice cake soup and tea to visitors who braved the cold weather, sharing a sense of warmth and community.
Park Geunsik, President of the Saemaul Leaders’ Council, Kim Myunghwa, President of the Women’s Association, and Lee Youngnam, President of the Library Association, said, “We are very pleased to see the residents coming together as one to share hope on the first day of the New Year,” and added, “We hope that the spirit of Bamti-jae will bring happiness to every household throughout the year.”
Choi Sungho, Head of Gaknam-myeon, expressed his gratitude to the Saemaul Three Organizations for preparing the event, stating, “In the 2026 Byeongo Year, I will do my best to promote the development of Gaknam-myeon and the welfare of its residents.”
