Economic Expert with Global Conglomerate Experience
"Boldly Applying Management DNA to Daegu's Municipal Administration"
On January 5, Assemblyman Choi Eunseok of the People Power Party officially announced his candidacy for Daegu Mayor in the upcoming local elections scheduled for June 3.
On this day, Assemblyman Choi held a meeting at the People Power Party’s Daegu City Chapter and stated, "I will become the CEO for the citizens of Daegu, driving the city’s dynamic growth."

As a former CEO of CJ CheilJedang, Assemblyman Choi emphasized that he is the right person to revive Daegu’s economy.
He pointed out, "Until now, Daegu had significant political influence and abundant administrative experience. The budget network was more than sufficient. Yet, among all special and metropolitan cities, Daegu ranks lowest in per capita personal income and is the only one with negative economic growth. Why has it remained stagnant?"
He continued, "The problem is not resources, but leadership," stressing, "It is time to move away from relying on intangible, conceptual assets such as political power, administrative experience, and budget networks."
Assemblyman Choi asserted, "This Daegu mayoral election is not simply about choosing an administrator. It is about selecting the representative of Daegu’s economic community," adding, "Now, we must choose someone who can truly revive Daegu, someone who can truly get things done."
In particular, Assemblyman Choi highlighted his experience as a global conglomerate CEO. He said, "On the front lines of a global company, I developed strategies, led organizations, and proved myself through execution and results. I was the CEO of an organization with 35,000 employees. The company I led had sales nearly double the budget of Daegu City."
He added, "If a company fails, it is eliminated. In politics, even if you fail, you are not held accountable," pledging, "I will boldly apply my 'management DNA' to Daegu’s municipal administration and rebuild Daegu’s struggling economy."
Regarding Daegu’s real estate issues, he stated, "I will completely redesign the residential environment by integrating housing, education, and quality jobs," and added, "I will eliminate the concerns holding Daegu back, such as unsold homes, plummeting housing prices, housing instability, youth outflow, and regional extinction."
Within the People Power Party, National Assembly Vice Speaker Joo Ho-young and Assemblyman Yoon Jaeok are being mentioned as potential mayoral candidates for Daegu. Previously, Assemblyman Chu Kyungho officially announced his candidacy for Daegu Mayor.
