Passed Away After Six Days in a Coma
Hoped to Return While Battling Blood Cancer, But Met a Tragic End

'National actor' Ahn Sung-ki passed away on January 5. He was 74 years old.

He died in the intensive care unit at Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the same day, surrounded by his family.

The direct cause of death was brain death due to airway obstruction. On December 30 of last year, he collapsed at home after food became lodged in his throat. He was immediately transported to the hospital and received treatment, but after six days in a coma, he never regained consciousness.

He had been battling blood cancer since being diagnosed in 2019. Until recently, he was working hard to recover his health and preparing to return to acting, but his life was cut short by this sudden accident.
