On January 5, LG Uplus announced the launch of the 'U+ Kids Phone Mooneo Edition 2,' a smartphone exclusively for children featuring its own character, 'Mooneo.' The retail price is 369,500 won, and it is available in two colors: blue and gray.

The Mooneo Phone 2, released on January 2, is the ninth kids' phone introduced by LG Uplus for preschoolers and elementary school students. It is based on Samsung Electronics' 'Galaxy A17 LTE' model and features LG Uplus's signature character 'Mooneo' throughout the wallpaper and overall theme. The product comes as a package that includes kids' bone conduction air earphones, a Mooneo pouch, a dedicated case, a neck strap, stickers, and a screen protector film.

The most notable feature of this product is its AI-based harmful content blocking function. If a child takes, captures, or downloads a harmful image, the AI detects it, immediately sends a warning notification, and prompts for deletion. When a text message containing harmful keywords such as profanity is received, a notification is also sent to the guardian, enabling a quick response. LG Uplus believes this feature will help not only protect children but also foster healthy smartphone usage habits.

The core functions of previous kids' phones have also been retained. Guardians can check their child's real-time location and manage app usage through the 'Kiwi Play+' app. Location tracking and usage control are considered the most important safety features when using a kids' phone.

To commemorate the launch of the new product, LG Uplus has prepared various benefits. Starting January 9, customers aged 0 to 15 who activate the Mooneo Phone 2 will receive one year of free 'Kids Care Insurance' from Kyobo Lifeplanet. This insurance provides 30,000 won per incident for cast treatment and accidental fractures.

The first 10,000 customers will receive a three-month free subscription to the 'U+ Pick AI Education Pack.' This pack includes 'Science Donga AiR' and 'Math King' for science and math learning, as well as 'Plang' and 'Learnie' for English and Korean language study, enabling AI-driven self-directed learning across all subjects.

Additionally, customers under the age of 18 who use the Hana Bank allowance management app 'iBooja' will receive up to 7,000 won in allowance benefits, and new users of the kids' metaverse platform 'Kidstopia' will be given Mooneo items worth 30,000 won. Customers who activate the phone through the U+ official online store and participate in the event can choose one of the following: a label printer, a portable battery, or wireless earphones.
