Hanwha General Insurance Launches "Signature Women's Health Insurance 4.0" for the New Year

Reducing Legal and Financial Burdens from Domestic and Sexual Violence
Introducing a 500,000 Won "Pregnancy Support Benefit" for Expectant Mothers
Diversified Coverage Tailored by Age Group

On January 5, Hanwha General Insurance announced that it has strengthened its women's insurance lineup by launching a new version of its flagship product, "Hanwha Signature Women's Health Insurance 4.0 Non-Dividend," to celebrate the New Year.

This new product sets a new standard for women's insurance by considering not only women's safety but also their overall life satisfaction. Its main features include: ▲ coverage for legal and financial burdens that may arise after social risks; ▲ a wide range of maternity support benefits encompassing infertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care; ▲ integrated treatment coverage focused on female-specific diseases such as breast, thyroid, and gynecological conditions. The product is designed to provide comprehensive protection against various risks and challenges women face throughout their lives.

The coverage has been expanded to include legal and financial burdens that may arise after risks such as domestic violence and sexual assault. For the first time in the industry, it offers coverage for "legal expenses due to domestic violence," providing up to 10 million won per trial instance and a maximum of 30 million won in divorce lawsuits related to domestic violence. In partnership with the Korean Bar Association, a legal consultation service with lawyers is also provided to alleviate psychological stress and offer professional advice during legal proceedings. Coverage for damages from crimes against women, such as sexual assault, is also included.

The maternity-related coverage, which has become a core competitive strength of the Signature Women's Health Insurance, has been expanded to the pregnancy stage in version 4.0. In consideration of the burdens associated with examinations and management, a one-time "pregnancy support benefit" of 500,000 won is provided upon pregnancy.

Reflecting the reality that infertility treatments are often prolonged, the number of covered infertility treatments has been increased, supporting up to eight procedures in total, including both artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization. To help overcome infertility earlier by improving the success rate of in vitro fertilization, coverage for preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) has also been newly included.

After childbirth, in addition to the childbirth support benefit (1 million won for the first child, 3 million won for the second, and 5 million won for the third), the product also covers postpartum care center expenses and child care costs during hospitalization, providing comprehensive support before and after childbirth.

Coverage for breast, thyroid, and gynecological diseases, which have a high incidence among women, has been further strengthened. The product provides integrated treatment benefits for major examinations and treatments, taking into account the entire treatment process from diagnosis to surgery, therapy, and rehabilitation. It is designed to reduce the financial burden throughout the treatment process, covering not only cancer and cancer-like diseases but also less severe conditions such as endometriosis and uterine fibroids, with an annual limit of up to 100 million won.

Coverage has also been diversified by age group. For women in their 40s and 50s, new benefits have been introduced, such as "diagnosis benefit for menopause due to treatment," which covers menopause resulting from unavoidable medical treatments, and "osteoporosis diagnosis benefit II," which provides tiered coverage for osteoporosis, a condition frequently affecting women during menopause. There are also more options available for women in their 50s and 60s with pre-existing conditions.

This product is available to individuals aged 15 to 89. It also offers a structure without premium waiver, providing a more affordable premium option. A simplified enrollment process is available depending on medical history, and by disclosing medical history for an additional period, customers can enroll at more reasonable premiums. Accident-free customers are given the opportunity to improve contract terms through conversion. The policy term can be selected from among 80, 90, or 100 years of age.

Meanwhile, the "Hanwha Signature Women's Health Insurance" series, developed based on women's research by the industry's first LIFEPLUS Femtech Research Center, has been gradually upgraded, starting with the launch of version 1.0 in July 2023, followed by versions 2.0 and 3.0 in January and November 2024, respectively. With each version, new benefits and services reflecting changes in women's life cycles and lifestyles have been added, strengthening the identity of the Signature Women's Insurance brand.

A Hanwha General Insurance representative stated, "Signature Women's Health Insurance 4.0 is a comprehensive women's insurance product that goes beyond coverage for accidents and illnesses to encompass women's safety and happiness. We will continue to interpret the various moments in women's lives through the language of insurance and provide practical protection and support to women of all generations."
