Gyeonggi Province Announces Symbol Contest for Next Year’s National (Para) Sports Festival

Gyeonggi Province will hold a contest for symbols that embody the identity and vision of the '108th National Sports Festival' and the '47th National Para Games,' both scheduled for October next year. The contest will run until February 27.


This contest is open to all citizens. Entries should express the region’s identity, including Gyeonggi Province’s traditions, history, culture, and vision, as well as the festive spirit of national unity and participation, and the sportsmanship of effort and challenge.


The contest categories include: ▲ Four emblems applicable to both the National Sports Festival and the National Para Games ▲ Four mascots ▲ Five slogans ▲ Four individual posters for each event ▲ Five individual mottos for each event, for a total of 31 awards across five categories.


Submissions can be made in person, by mail, or via email. The Symbol Review Committee, composed of experts in each category, will conduct a fair evaluation and select 31 winners: seven grand prize winners, ten excellence award winners, and fourteen encouragement award winners. The total prize money is 30 million won, which will be distributed differentially among the winners.

The winning entries will be compiled into a symbol application manual, consisting of 12 basic types and 7 applied types, and will be widely used for event operations, ceremonies, and promotional activities.

Park Raehyuk, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We hope this contest will produce symbols that capture both the identity of the province and the prestige of the National Sports Festival," adding, "We encourage active participation from many citizens."
